Don't purchase. Xee 2 was a much better app...

Simply since its not supported by newer versions of OSX and considering I liked it so much, I purchased the new version. I wouldnt have guessed they would degrate basic functionality the way they did. Full screen is soemtimes buggy. Auto fit images doesnt e'er auto fit (and if you zoom an image, the zoom on adjacent prototype is completely random, sometimes smaller, sometimes larger). Information technology's a shame, the one-time version no longer works and this one has conspicuously been carelessness for at to the lowest degree a couple of years, so dont expect any updates or fixes.

I rarely write reviews but I experience compelled to because I honey this program and I don't think the ratings here reflect how good information technology is. I'thousand using the latest version, which at the moment is 3.5.three, and many of the complaints I've read in these reviews plainly apply to previous versions because they don't apply to the version I have.

I've used several other image viewing programs, both paid and unpaid, simply this is my favorite. I shoot and sort a lot of images and Xee has some cardinal features that really help me. It has a pretty sophisticated copy/move system where you can dynamically specify upwards to ten destination folders and then move or copy each image into ane of those destinations with a keystroke. I beloved the fact that almost all of the many commands in the system are assignable to keyboard keys via a very easy to use Preferences->Keyboard screen. So I've got my whole keyboard mapped out for quick scanning, zooming, sorting, and even some rudimentary editing (just rotating, flipping, and cropping). For instance, I assigned the keys 1 through 5 to movement the current image to one of 5 dissimilar destinations, so it is easy to goose egg through and sort a agglomeration of images into practiced/meliorate/all-time/reject, for case, or into "bride"/"groom"/"other", etc., with a unmarried keystroke.

I do have a few quibbles and I've given some feedback to MacPaw so I'm hoping we'll continue to see improvements. Simply for $4 information technology sure filled a big hole in the Mac image treatment for me!

Below Average User Interface

This awarding does in fact brandish diverse graphic formats; however, the user interface is rough and hardly intuitive and the application itself shows its age. With a little extra endeavor this application could be on the top of the heap. As information technology stands, it's a dissappointment.

When the application starts it does not open a typical application window. It puts the icon in the dock and in one case y'all click on the icon the menu bar is parked at the top and ane has to physically click on it, select file and open a file or directory. I would take expected a more intitive layout with directories on the left and picture content on the correct (more like finder). Y'all cannot scan through directories, select multiple directories or actually do much with the interface that cannot already be done with scarcely more work than i tin can do with finder already.

Yes, information technology's a little improve than that, just for a paid application I would accept expected the author to spend a lot more than endeavor on the user interface and making the flick browsing a lot more similar what is out of the box with Windows machines. After all, that is why people buy apps like this — to go what Windows does already out-of-the-box. It'southward a shame really that nothing on Apple tree comes anywhere almost Windows for picture file browsing.

Had I to do information technology over once more, I probably would non accept spend the $4, simply on the other paw, it'south only $4.
